April 2027 · Lake Fausse Point State Park
A spring weekend outdoors for GA and Gam-Anon, with fun, food and family.
Unity Weekend brings us together to carry hope to the compulsive gambler who still suffers and to thank the friends and family whose strength and love have supported us through difficult times. In the beauty of the Atchafalaya Basin, we’ll step away from daily distractions to share experience, strength, and hope while making space for recovery, healing, connection, and renewal.

Recovery is a family affair. This weekend brings both fellowships, and the people we love, to the same place.
A weekend like this is built by volunteers, one job at a time. Pick a committee (or two) and we'll be in touch.
Join a committeeVolunteers needed to create activities for the group. These can be icebreaker games, recovery craft projects, leading nature walks, etc.
Open GA meetings on Friday and Saturday Evenings. Responsible for setting up Pavilion 2, chairing the meetings and ensuring there is firewood.
The cabins and campsites are on a first come-first serve basis through the gooutdoorslouisiana.com website. Since our goal is to host as many people as possible, volunteers are needed to track who is coming and where they are staying.
On Saturday night, we are having a big potluck. Area 7 will provide the meat and this will need to be purchased and cooked. We also need to coordinate so everyone doesn't bring the same sides for the potluck portion.
We need someone to coordinate hospitality. The means making sure there are snacks and there is coffee and hot water/tea available to everyone. This will likely have to be available in Pavilion 2 during the days only. Otherwise, if someone is willing to open up their cabin porch, we can have it during other designated hours, up to the hospitality coordinators discretion.
Activities and care during the bonfire meetings and other activities the volunteers would like to engage in during the weekend.
Volunteers are needed to plan morning meditations, Qi Gong or yoga.
Dear Friends, Fellowship Members, and Families,
Unity Weekend brings us together to carry hope to the compulsive gambler who still suffers and to thank the friends and family whose strength and love have supported us through difficult times. In the beauty of the Atchafalaya Basin, we’ll step away from daily distractions to share experience, strength, and hope while making space for recovery, healing, connection, and renewal.
We want this retreat to be accessible to everyone, regardless of finances. Fifteen cabins are currently available; each sleeps up to eight people and includes one queen bedroom, one room with four bunk beds, and a sleeper sofa. Campsites with and without hookups are also available; see the attached rate sheet. Veterans, police officers, firefighters, and first responders should ask the campground about its 15% discount. If you have extra room and are willing to share, please consider helping someone earlier in recovery.
Day visitors are welcome for $3 per person (free for seniors). If you need financial assistance, please contact a committee member; we’ll do our best to help with transportation and attendance costs. The weekend will include meetings both evenings, a Saturday potluck, get-to-know-you and creative activities, and meditative mornings.
We hope this Spring weekend offers you peace, love, serenity and fellowship and becomes a meaningful milestone in your healing journey.
In fellowship and gratitude,
The Unity Weekend Organizing Committee
